About Great Family Road Trips
My name is Sharon Rowley and I live in the beautiful Northeast with my husband Steve and my 6 kids ages 12, 11, 10, 9, 8 and 8. I am passionate about traveling with my family- I feel that our life’s experiences shape who we become, and one of the best ways to broaden your experiences is to travel together.
Of course, with a family of eight- airfare to/from a destination can be quite expensive- and so is renting a car big enough to fit our family and our luggage! So a long time ago, we embraced the great family road trip as the means to achieve our traveling goals. And beyond the financial savings, a road trip allows you the chance to slow down, see the incredible scenery, stop when inspiration strikes, and to easily re-work an itinerary when you are having too much fun to move along.
During the summer of 2013, my family and I traveled 8000 miles to see 16 states in 4 weeks- traveling from New York out to Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Missouri, Ohio, and everywhere in between. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life- and I know just how fortunate we were to take this opportunity as a family.
I can also say that this trip (along with the dozens and dozens of road trips that have come before and since) have made me an “expert in the field”! I can tell you how to pack, what to take and what to leave behind, what gadgets work best on the road, and advice on entertaining the kids both in the car and while seeing the sights! I can’t wait to share all that I have learned with you- and hopefully inspire you to seek new adventures with your own family!
